As data handling and transmission expands to include visual images, complex graphics, and multimedia, archival file storage capacity aswell as flexible media management become increasingly important. As a result optical disk drives which offer users higher recording density, flexible save/restore operations, and the exceptional feature of optical media removability are increasingly becoming a necessity.
Low Profile Yet High Storage Capacity
Fujitsu's M2512A was developed as the successor to the M2511A. The M2512A has the same dimensions as its predecessor and maintains downward compatibility with other 128MB media, and meets ISO Standards. The M2512A is the industry's first one-inch profile 3.5-inch magneto optical disk drive for 230MB media. Behind the one-inch high design is our unique spindle-loading technology. While a conventional drive lets the cartridge drop to setting after its insertion, Fujitsu's spindle-loading technology allows the spindle of the drive itself to immediately come into contact with the inserted cartridge, eliminating the vertical displacement space. The low profile M2512A allows it to be easily installed in personal computers and workstations, replacing conventional hard disks and floppy disk drives. The M2512A will transform such PCs into efficient multimedia machines due to the optical disks' versatility, as well as its low cost.
The M2512A is available in single-bezel (M2512A), double-bezel (M2512A2), or no bezel (M2512A1) options. The double-bezel type has two shutters at the disk entry point which improves protection against dust contamination, and is one centimetre longer than it's single-bezel contemporary.
