M2512A2 (in subsystem)
230MB Magneto-Optical cartridge
Universal Device Driver for DOS and Windows 3.11
Installing the subsystem
The subsystem may be installed either vertically or horizontally with the engraved MOcity uppermost
The IFD-230-B subsystem complies with safety provisions laid down in IEC 435 and DIN VDE 0805. It must be connected to the mains power supply by a permitted cable. The appearance of the cable may differ, depending on local circumstances. Before connecting to the mains, ensure that the power switch at the back of the system is in the OFF position. If the LED at the front of the system does not light, this does not necessarily mean that power is not reaching the system.
All the preliminary setting to the system can be made externally. There are no user servicable parts inside the subsystem so opening the case could void your warranty.
Connect the SCSI cable to the SCSI IN socket at the back of the subsystem and secure it. Connect the other end of the cable to your computer's SCSI port
Power on the subsystem and then your computer. Powering on in any other way could result in the subsystem not being recognised by the host as the drive would not be in the ready state.
Cleaning
The cleaning cycle for the drive optics depends wholly on the installation environment. Under normal domestic or office conditions it is recommended that the cleaning interval is about 6 months.
Dust and smoke particles on the disk or on the drive optics can seriously impair the the efficiency of the unit as a whole. Cleaning the optics requires a Fujitsu head cleaner which is available from the supplier of your drive. Cleaning is simple to perform :
Switch on the subsystem.
Insert the cleaning cartridge.
Wait until the cartridge is automatically ejected.
Cleaning of the optics is now complete.
Cleaning the optical media
Follow closely the instructions that are included in the disk cleaning kit.
Notes
Ensure that the disk cartridge is removed prior to transportation of the subsystem as damage may occur to both disk and drive mechanism.
