Setup
To set the drive in Test Mode, press RESET to put the drive in the 'not ready' state, press UNLOAD to eject any cartridges. If the automatic cartridge loader is installed then press EJECT and remove the magazine.

Once in 'TEST MODE' the switches operate in the following fashion :
START Increments the item number
SHIFT + START Decrements the item number
TEST Executes the selected function
RESET Cancels the current setting
The following items can now be set from the control panel:
0:TMODE Set the SCSI target mode
1:TADDR Sets the SCSI target address
2:SDTR Set the synchronous/asynchronous transfer mode
3:PARIT Enables/disables SCSI bus parity checking
4:ASYEN Sets the UNIT ATTENTION async interrupt mode
5:TERM Displays the SCSI terminator type
6:COMP Displays data compression status
7:DEVS Displays the MTU address
8:BAUD Displays the baud rate of the RS232C
9:XRATE Sets the SCSI synchronous data transfer goup
10:WTNVR Write the settings to non-volotile RAM

MTU SETTING SPECIFICATION
1. Setting Function
The setting function sets the drive. The following settings are available:
1. "70:*****" ----- Reserved
2. "71:S.ECL" ----- Sets the EC level.
3. "72:-----" ----- Reserved
4. "73:S.LNG" ----- Sets the display language.
5. "74:S.RDY" ----- Sets whether to display a message when the tape is positioned at beginning of tape (BOT).
6. "75:S.*N " ----- Sets the display of logical addresses.
7. "76:S.ITS" ----- Sets the operator panel intensity.
8. "77:*****" ----- Reserved
9. "78:S.FT1" ----- Sets other additional functions.
10. "79:S.FT2" ----- Sets other additional functions.
11. "80:S.FT3" ----- Sets other additional functions.
12. "81:S.FT4" ----- Sets other additional functions.
13. "83:S.ACL" ----- Sets auto loader mode immediately after power on.
14. "84:*****" ----- Reserved
15. "85:*****" ----- Reserved

1.1 Operation Method
(1) Press the UNLOAD switch for two seconds while pressing the TEST
switch to start test mode.
(2) Press the START switch to change the display to SETTING,
then press the TEST switch to enter the setting mode.
(3) Press the START switch to select a setting item.
(4) Press the TEST switch to execute the selected setting item.
See Section 1.2 for details on how to set setting items.
(5) To terminate setting mode and select internal tester mode,
Press the RESET switch when a setting item is selected.
(6) Press the RESET switch during execution of setting interrupt
and select a setting item.
1.2 Setting Routines
This section explains the operation methods related to setting items.
71:S.ECL
Sets the EC level.
The operator panel displays the following item. Press the START
(increment), SHIFT, and START (decrement) switches to select an EC
level, then press the TEST switch to set the EC level.
"EC LV:##" ## indicates the EC level represented by a
hexadecimal number.
Note: If the auto loader is mounted, "EC LV:01" must be set.
73:S.LNG
Sets the language to be displayed on the operator panel.
The operator panel displays one of the following items.
Press the START switch to select an item, then press the TEST
switch to set the item.
" ENGLISH" English
" FRENCH" French
" GERMAN" German
" SPANISH" Spanish
" ITALIAN" Italian
74:S.RDY
Sets whether to display BOT RDYU and BOT RDYF when the cartridge is loaded.
The operator panel displays one of the following items.
Press the START switch to select an item, then press the TEST switch to set the item.
"BOTRDY:Y" BOT RDY is displayed.
"BOTRDY:N" BOT RDY is not displayed.
75:S.*N
Sets whether to display the logical device address of the drive when the cartridge is not loaded. " *N" is displayed.
(N indicates the logical device address represented by 0 to 3)
The operator panel displays one of the following items.
Press the START switch to select an item, then press the TEST switch to set the item.
" *N :YES" LOGICAL ADDRESS is displayed.
" *N :NO " LOGICAL ADDRESS is not displayed.
76:S.ITS
Sets the operator panel intensity.
The operator panel displays the following item. Press the START switch to change the value of intensity and select the desired value, then press the TEST switch to set the value.
" INTEN:#" # indicates the operator panel intensity
represented by 0 (bright) to 3 (dark)
78:S.FT1
Sets additional functions.
The operator panel displays one of the following items.
Press the START (increment), SHIFT, and START (decrement) switches to select an item, then press the TEST switch to set the item.
" FMOD1:## " # is displayed by a hexadecimal number.

Bit 7: DISP KEY
Setting this bit displays the abbreviation of a switch on the operator panel when it is pressed.
Bit 2: EOT ALERT
Setting this bit alerts the MTC to the EOT area only once.
This mode is used to improve WRITE performance in the EOT area. MTC micro code must support this mode.
Bit 1: E-CART ERR MASK
Setting this bit masks the long-medium reject function.
Bit 0: WRITE RAS MASK
Setting this bit masks WRITE RAS ERROR during execution of WRITE operation in the diagnostic mode.
79:S.FT2
Sets additional functions.
The operator panel displays one of the following items. Press
the START (increment), SHIFT, and START (decrement) switches to select an item, then press the TEST switch to set the item.

Bit 2: BUFFER FLUSH
Setting this bit places the device in buffer flush mode.
Bit 1: SEL MTC
Setting this bit displays SEL MTC on the menu.
Bit 0: FAN FAIL REPORT
Setting this bit reports a fan failure to the high-order device if it is detected when the cartridge is loaded.
Power to the device is not turned off until the high-order device issues the UNLOAD command. If the UNLOAD command is not issued within about five minutes after the fan failure occurs, the drive unloads the loaded tape and the device is turned off.
80:S.FT3
Sets additional functions.
The operator panel displays one of the following items. Press the START (increment), SHIFT, and START (decrement) switches to select an item, then press the TEST switch to set the item.

Bit 6: AUTO CLN MANU MASK
Setting this bit masks the auto cleaning function after manual unloading. (FACL only)
Bit 5: AUTO CLN EJECT MD
Setting this bit performs auto cleaning before the magazine is ejected. (Normally, auto cleaning is performed after unloading. FACL only).
Bit 4: MAG TBL MODE
Setting this bit changes the definition of the magazine table indicated by the sense byte. When the cartridge is loaded, the bit at the position of the loaded magazine is reset. (FACL only. ANSI code is supported.)
Bit 2: CLN OPT
Setting this bit causes the cleaning cell to be unavailable.
(FACL only)
Bit 1: AUTO CLN MASK
Setting this bit masks the auto cleaning function.
(FACL only)
Bit 0: APR
Setting this bit causes auto power-off recovery (APR) mode to be entered. (FACL only)
81:S.FT4
Sets additional functions.

Bits 2 to 0: CLN CELL bits 2 to 0
Setting these bits can specify the limit on the use count of the cleaning cartridge in the cleaning cell. A warning message is displayed 10 times before the limit on the use count. (FACL only)
Even if the set limit on the use count is exceeded, the warning message is simply displayed and cleaning is still possible.

83:S.ACL
Specifies the auto loader mode immediately after power on when the auto loader is used.
The operator panel displays one of the following items. Press the START switch to select an item, then press the TEST switch
to set the item.
"ACL:AUTO" Auto mode is set immediately after power on.
"ACL:SYS" System mode is set immediately after power on.
87:F.SET
Factory setting
This is a reserved option used to set factory defaults.
88:DPSET
Displays setting information. Press the START switch to display the set data items sequentially on the display. Press the TEST or RESET switch to stop displaying the set data items.
89:WTROM
Writes setting information into nonvolatile ROM (EEPROM).
The operator panel displays one of the following items. Press the START switch to select an item, then press the TEST switch to execute the item.
"WTROM: Y" The set data is written to EEPROM.
"WTROM: N" The set data is not written to EEPROM.
