Ever since 1991 Fujitsu has been committed to 3½ inch magneto-optical (MO) technology and the arrival of the M2532B completes its extensive range of products that use this ultra reliable medium for data storage. The library contains either one or two of the highly acclaimed Fujitsu M2513A 640MB disk drives offering a capacity of up to 22GB of near-line storage when fully populated. The disks themselves are resident in three magazines each holding 12 cartridges on a sliding, motorised tray allowing fast changes of data volumes by the user. This tray load facility allows magazines to be pre-loaded at will, lending itself well as a magneto-optical disk duplicator, and a range of third-party software solutions for all major operating system platforms (Macintosh, DOS, Windows, and Novell) make it ideal for conventional optical library duties such as two-tier hierarchical storage management on network servers. Even when connected locally to a personal computer the library excels itself as a preferred mass data storage medium for such applications as desktop publishing, multimedia authoring and playback, computer aided design, backup, archiving and successfully fulfils the demand for the ever increasingly popular small office activity of document image processing (DIP).

The library’s dimensions belie its substantial capacity - at only 15 centimetres high, 34 centimetres wide and 43 centimetres deep the unit is no larger than an average modern computer base unit, and with few overly complex installation requirements this library can become an elegant and yet unobtrusive addition to the desktop and office environment.
