Landing Zone (LZONE) and Write Precompensation (WPcom) should be set to 0 as these functions are not required on modern disk drives.

If your system BIOS does not support these capacities then make sure your dealer has supplied you with the Fujitsu Disk Manager utility which will enable your computer to deal with the extra capacity. This utility is NOT available for download from this site.

CSEL selection method
Standard selection method

MASER/SLAVE configurations hold true in either case of configuring as a primary or secondary device where the system supports this feature. Consequently up to four drives may be configured in this fashion.

CSEL provides for an alternative method for selection of the MASTER and SLAVE configurations. A special cable is needed to implement this feature and should only be used if supported by BOTH drives. CSEL should only be used in conjunction with a slave and without ACMODE

Orientation

The drive may be installed in one of three orientations; either PCA down or on either edge. Inclination from vertical or horizontal should not exceed 5°.

Mounting Screw Fixing

When the mounting screw holes on the side of the drive are used, then use only the two pairs of outer holes. Do not use the centre holes in conjunction with only one of the outer holes. Drives with the suffix TAM accept M3 screws while drives with the suffix TAU accept #6-32UNC screws. The screw must not penetrate the drive by more than 4 millimetres to avoid damage to the circuitry or negation of any shock damping capability.

Grounding

Sufficient grounding will be provided for correct operation when the drive is screwed into an electrically grounded frame.

Cooling

Allow space above and below the drive to provide for adequate air flow. A 2.5 millimetre gap around the drive is recommended. Fan cooling is also recommended. The disk enclosure temperature, measured at top centre, should never exceed 60°C.
